Frankfurt Lands Bremen Goalkeeper Zetterer

Eintracht Frankfurt has secured the immediate transfer of goalkeeper Michael Zetterer from fellow Bundesliga club Werder Bremen, the club announced Wednesday. The contract extends through 2029.

Sporting Director Markus Krösche stated that Zetterer brings a high level of goalkeeping ability alongside strong footballing skills. He emphasized that Zetterer has consistently demonstrated his capabilities during his time at Bremen and possesses the ambition and mentality to thrive at Frankfurt. Krösche highlighted the importance of assembling a robust and balanced goalkeeping team for the upcoming season, positioning Zetterer as a key component of that strategy. The announcement follows the recent departure of long-standing goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.

Zetterer’s development began at SpVgg Unterhaching before joining Werder Bremen in January 2015. He amassed a total of 80 appearances for the club across all competitions, having previously gained experience on loan at Austria Klagenfurt and PEC Zwolle.

Over the past two seasons, Zetterer established himself as Werder Bremen’s first-choice goalkeeper, featuring in 65 competitive matches and recording 18 clean sheets.
