The United States President is expected to participate in a core virtual meeting with Ukraine on Wednesday afternoon, but will not join a subsequent discussion involving a smaller group of nations.
Speaking in Berlin on Wednesday, Deputy Government Spokesperson Steffen Meyer stated that the US President is not anticipated to participate in a third scheduled video conference, described as a meeting of a “coalition of the willing”. Instead, the President will join a central discussion involving European leaders, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and himself.
According to Meyer, a total of three video conferences are planned, beginning at 2:00 PM local time. The first will include a range of European heads of state and government, alongside the Presidents of the European Commission and European Council and the NATO Secretary General. This will be followed by the core meeting and then the third format involving the select group of nations.
