The German federal armed forces (Bundeswehr) have undertaken five flights as part of an airlift operation providing humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip, commencing on August 1st. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence confirmed the information to the dts news agency in Berlin on Monday. Two temporarily stationed A400M aircraft are currently being utilized for the operation, with a further flight scheduled for Monday.
These five flights have delivered approximately 43 tons of essential supplies, equivalent to 100 pallets. While specific details regarding the precise composition of the pallets were not disclosed, the spokesperson indicated they contain items such as rice flour and ready-to-eat meals, intended for rapid distribution to those in need.
The airlift is being coordinated by Jordan as part of an international effort to alleviate the acute humanitarian crisis within the Gaza Strip. The supplies are being provided by the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO).
Regarding logistical arrangements, the spokesperson emphasized close coordination with Jordanian partners concerning flight path approaches, designated landing zones and communication protocols with the local population. The Bundeswehr operates under a system whereby flights are conducted upon receipt of allocated time slots.
