The Formula 1 race in Belgium, significantly impacted by wet conditions, concluded with a victory for McLaren’s Oscar Piastri. His teammate, Lando Norris, secured second place, crossing the finish line at Spa, while Charles Leclerc of Ferrari completed the podium.

The race start was substantially delayed due to the rain-soaked track. Instead of the scheduled 15:00 CEST, the event didn’t commence until 16:20 CEST. The initial stages involved several laps behind the safety car, despite visible signs of the track drying in places. A standing start was ultimately abandoned.

Following the official race release, Piastri quickly overtook Norris and for a period, the field remained largely static. A strategic divergence emerged when Norris made the sole decision to switch from intermediate to hard tires, while the rest of the drivers opted for the medium compound. However, the tactic proved inconsequential as Piastri was able to complete the race on mediums, ultimately maintaining his lead.

Further down the order, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) secured fourth place, followed by George Russell (Mercedes), Alex Albon (Williams), Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) and Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls). Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber) earned two points for the championship standings in ninth, with Pierre Gasly (Alpine) claiming a single point in tenth position. German driver Nico Hülkenberg (Sauber) finished the Grand Prix in twelfth place. The next race is scheduled for a week’s time in Hungary.
