It looks like Netflix is planning to “kill” one of its most beloved features, and hidden code in the iPhone app has revealed which feature is disappearing.
Downloading movies and series is one of the biggest pluses for users of this streaming service, but it seems that only those who choose the most expensive package will enjoy it.
Namely, Netflix is preparing a cheaper package that contains ads and is expected to be available next year.
The hidden code in the iPhone app shows that Netflix does not plan to allow the download option for users with a cheaper package.
The Netflix target was discovered by developer Steve Moser, who posted that code within the iPhone app contains the following text “Downloads available for all packages except Netflix with ads.”
Another Netflix decision can be read from the hidden code, that users with a cheaper package will not be able to skip ads or access playback controls while ads are playing.
Netflix declined to comment on the speculation, and this isn’t the first move that has angered users. Netflix recently started charging for password sharing, which caused backlash from users.
