The search for a missing man and his young son, who disappeared in the Eibsee lake on July 5th, concluded tragically on Saturday with the recovery of their bodies.
Authorities at the Oberbayern Süd Police Headquarters confirmed that a specialized company had located the remains prior to the recovery operation. The Criminal Police of Garmisch-Partenkirchen are now conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to reports, the six-year-old boy fell from a pedal boat last week. His father immediately entered the lake in an attempt to rescue him, but both subsequently disappeared.
Since the initial disappearance, extensive search efforts involving numerous personnel, divers, rescue boats, helicopters and specially trained search dogs have been underway. The bodies were retrieved by police divers from a depth of approximately 24 meters on Saturday. The family has been notified.
