The German Bundestag President, Julia Klöckner, has reiterated the urgent need for the release of hostages held by Hamas, following a meeting with the families of those still detained in the Gaza Strip.
Klöckner emphasized that seven German and German-Israeli citizens remain in Hamas captivity. She stated it is a “particular responsibility” to consistently draw attention to their plight and actively pursue their release.
Speaking after the meeting, Klöckner described the suffering endured by the families as “barely put into words”. Accounts shared regarding the health and conditions of their children, siblings, or nieces have been deeply concerning.
The Bundestag President affirmed the German government’s unwavering demand to Hamas: the immediate release of all remaining Israeli hostages.
