Germany Denies Ukrainian Woman Entry

A Ukrainian national was initially denied entry at the German-Austrian border following directives issued by Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, according to information obtained by “Focus” magazine through a request to the Administrative Court of Munich.

The incident occurred on June 17, 2025, when the Ukrainian citizen attempted to cross the border at Freilassing. German Federal Police officers prevented her entry, prompting her to file an urgent lawsuit with the Administrative Court of Munich on June 30, 2025.

Court records indicate that the Munich Federal Police Directorate subsequently rescinded the denial of entry with a ruling dated July 4, 2025. The case nonetheless raises significant questions, given that Ukrainian citizens are exempt from asylum procedures and are afforded protection within the European Union. The initial denial, despite the established protections, has drawn attention to the implementation of border directives.
