Germany Poland Border Talks Planned

Following the implementation of enhanced border controls by Poland, German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) is planning a series of meetings with his Polish counterpart in the coming weeks. A spokesperson for the German Interior Ministry confirmed to the dts news agency in Berlin on Monday that the two ministers are maintaining “constant communication” on matters of shared concern.

Two meetings are scheduled for this month alone, involving a visit from Minister Dobrindt to Poland. Additionally, a migration summit is planned for the Zugspitze mountain range on the 18th, which will include participation from Polish officials.

The spokesperson highlighted Minister Dobrindt’s description of an “excellent relationship” with his Polish colleague, emphasizing a shared interest in coordinated action and the advancement of European initiatives aimed at reforming migration policies.

While Dobrindt previously proposed joint border controls, progress on this specific initiative remains under discussion. The spokesperson indicated that ongoing and consistent conversations are taking place regarding this matter. Any decisions reached will be communicated publicly.
