The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) has reiterated its refusal to collaborate with the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, emphasizing fundamental disagreements in political content. Amira Mohamed Ali, one of the Alliance’s co-leaders, stated in an interview with the “Rheinische Post” that the position remains unchanged. “There will be no cooperation because we are too far apart ideologically” she said.
Mohamed Ali confirmed that there are no ongoing discussions with the AfD at the federal level, dismissing the possibility as “without cause.
However, the Alliance leadership also cautioned against erecting artificial barriers with established parties that could inadvertently benefit the AfD. “Our focus remains on policy substance” she stated.
The BSW’s stance follows discussions held in the state of Thuringia. Mohamed Ali explained that engagement with the AfD in that context was driven by the necessity of filling judicial appointments. “It was absolutely essential to address this” she asserted, clarifying the limited nature of that interaction.
