A Flixbus overturned on the A19 highway near Röbel in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern during the early hours of Friday morning. The bus, traveling from Copenhagen to Vienna, was carrying 53 passengers and two drivers. According to the Rostock police, 20 people sustained injuries, with one individual reported to be in serious condition.
The accident occurred around 2:40 AM in the direction of Berlin, shortly after the Röbel exit, at kilometer 24.5. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
Uninjured passengers were transported to Röbel via a replacement bus. Emergency services, including the fire department, ambulance services and a rescue helicopter, responded to the scene. Authorities from the Dummerstorf and Linstow highway police sectors, as well as the Plau am See police station, were also present. The vehicle is currently undergoing an investigation by DEKRA, at the request of the public prosecutor’s office.
The A19 highway is fully closed following the accident and recovery operations are ongoing. Rostock police are asking for public understanding regarding the disruptions and anticipate a prolonged closure of the route.
