Dobrindt Unveils 'Cyber Dome' Five-Point Plan

Germany and Israel to Collaborate on Cyber and Civil Defense

German Federal Minister of the Interior, Alexander Dobrindt, has outlined a five-point plan to establish a “Cyber Dome” for Germany during his recent visit to Israel. The proposed Cyber and Security Pact with Israel aims to enhance cyber and civil defense in Germany, according to a report by Bild.

The plan includes the establishment of a center for German-Israeli cyber research, the expansion of cooperation between German and Israeli intelligence agencies and security authorities and the strengthening of collaboration in cyber defense. Additionally, the plan calls for the development of drone defense capabilities and the enhancement of population protection and warning systems.

“Cyber defense alone is not sufficient for the era of security” Dobrindt told Bild, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive defense strategy that includes the civil defense sector. He believes that a massive upgrade of the civil defense system is essential to boost the overall defense capabilities of the country.

Israel is renowned for its advanced cyber and civil defense systems, having successfully intercepted a significant number of drones and ballistic missiles during the war against Iran, allowing Israeli civilians to take shelter in bomb shelters and receive timely warnings via mobile alerts and sirens.
