BSW Surges to 5%!

A recent survey by the polling institute Insa, conducted for the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, has shown that the alliance of Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) has gained a one-percentage-point increase, reaching five percent in the latest Sunday trend. This marks the first time the BSW has cleared the five-percent threshold for entering the German Bundestag.

The Christian Democratic Union and its Bavarian sister party, the Christian Social Union, remain the strongest force, maintaining their 28 percent support. The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) has narrowed the gap, now just four percentage points behind the CDU/CSU, with a 24 percent share of the vote. The Social Democratic Party, the Green Party and the Left Party have all retained their previous week’s support, at 16, 11 and 9 percent, respectively.

The Free Democratic Party has lost one percentage point, now at 3 percent, while four percent of respondents indicated they would vote for other parties. The survey, which questioned 1,202 people from June 23 to 27, provides a snapshot of the current political landscape in Germany.
