German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt landed in Tel Aviv on Saturday afternoon, commencing a visit to Israel, where he will meet with several high-ranking Israeli government officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, according to the Focus news outlet.

In an interview with the Focus, Dobrindt emphasized the importance of in-person discussions and gaining a firsthand understanding of the situation in Israel. “Support for Israel means holding talks on the ground and getting a sense of the situation” he said. “I want to show that we, as a partner in the fight against terrorism, are deeply committed to supporting Israel.”

Dobrindt also highlighted the need for a comprehensive approach to defense, combining military and civilian efforts. “Israel is ahead of us in cyber defense and population protection” he noted.

Prior to his trip, Dobrindt announced his intention to work closely with Israel. “Germany needs a cyber dome” he told the Focus, describing a robust, digital shield against espionage, sabotage and the protection of critical infrastructure, such as energy and telecommunications companies.
