Berlin’s Green Party Appears to Find a Solution for Top Candidate for 2026 State Election

According to the Berlin-based newspaper Tagesspiegel, the Green Party’s Fraktionsvorsitzende, Bettina Jarasch, is likely to run as the top candidate for the 2026 state election, this time accompanied by Co-Fraktionschef Werner Graf in a dual leadership.

Jarasch, who has been the party’s top candidate for the Berlin state election twice before, is expected to share the limelight with Graf, rather than being the sole face of the Green Party’s campaign, as was the case in the previous elections.

When asked to comment on the plans by Tagesspiegel, Jarasch and Graf declined to provide specific details, stating that they are in good discussions with the party leadership, which will ultimately make a proposal. The party’s Landesvorstand also declined to make a statement, citing that they will present their top personnel in the fall and are currently engaged in good conversations.
