SV Darmstadt 98 Announces the Return of Patric Pfeiffer
The German second-division club, SV Darmstadt 98, has announced the return of Patric Pfeiffer, a central defender, who previously played for the team from 2019 to 2023. Pfeiffer, who was a key player in the team’s Bundesliga promotion in the 2022-2023 season, has rejoined the club from FC Augsburg, as confirmed by the team on Friday.
According to Paul Fernie, the club’s sport director, the team has been in talks with Pfeiffer for a while and is delighted to have him back. Pfeiffer, despite having other options, expressed a clear desire to return to Darmstadt and Fernie believes the defender’s presence, battling strength and versatility in ball distribution will be a valuable addition to the team.
Pfeiffer himself is thrilled to be back and feels like he is returning home. He stated that the conversations with Fernie and head coach Florian Kohfeldt convinced him that Darmstadt 98 is the right step for him.
During his previous stint with the club, Pfeiffer played in 85 matches and was an integral part of the team’s promotion to the Bundesliga. After a brief spell at FC Augsburg, where he only played in 12 official games, Pfeiffer is now set to rejoin the Lilien, the nickname of the Darmstadt 98 team.
