In the run-up to the SPD’s party convention, which begins on Friday, the CDU is expecting a clear declaration of commitment from the Social Democrats to the course of the black-red government, particularly in foreign and security policy.
The first parliamentary business manager of the CDU/CSU Bundestag faction, Steffen Bilger, told the “Rheinische Post” in an interview published on Thursday, that a “content- and person-sorted Social Democracy with a clear course, especially in foreign and security policy, will strengthen future coalition work.”
At the same time, Bilger stated that it is worthy of respect that the SPD is planning to critically reflect on its role in the traffic light government at the party convention and draw important lessons from it. The parliamentary business manager wished the SPD “good deliberations” at the party convention, implying a constructive discussion.
