German Youth Organisation Leader Criticizes Government’s Border Policy
Ahead of the upcoming SPD federal party convention, the leader of the German Youth Organisation, Philipp Türmer, has sharply criticized the border policy of the black-red federal government. In an interview, he described the government’s actions as a scandal, saying that it is a breach of the law and that the CDU, led by Friedrich Merz, is on the verge of becoming a party that disregards the law.
Türmer, the chairman of the SPD’s youth wing, also expressed his disapproval of the lack of new justifications for the rejections, as demanded by Justice Minister Stefanie Hubig. He stated that it is unacceptable that no new justification has been provided by the Interior Minister and that this could even lead to criminal liability for the authorities involved.
The leader of the German Youth Organisation also accused the Interior Minister, Alexander Dobrindt, of making a potentially criminal decision by instructing federal police to continue carrying out illegal rejections. According to Türmer, Chancellor Friedrich Merz should not simply accept this situation, but rather, he and the SPD should put pressure on the government to end this illegal practice as soon as possible.
