A German Politician Warns of Potential Escalation of Middle East Conflict in Germany

In a recent interview, the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony, Olaf Lies, expressed concern over the potential spread of the Middle East conflict to Germany. “We don’t know how the situation in the Middle East will develop and if it will escalate further” said the SPD politician, referring to the possibility of increased tensions in the region. “That’s why everyone here is very vigilant, very tense and regularly in contact with each other.”

This vigilance also extends to the potential expansion of security measures for Jewish institutions in Germany. As the Prime Minister noted, past conflicts in the region have already had an impact in Germany and Lower Saxony. “Whether the police presence is sufficient will be closely monitored by the interior ministers” he added.
