Law Enforcement Apprehends Suspect in Politician’s Murder and Wounding of Husband and Another Couple
Authorities in Minnesota have apprehended a suspect in the shooting deaths of a state politician and her husband, as well as the wounding of a senator and his wife. The suspect was taken into custody near their residence in Green Isle, Sibley County, according to official statements.
The arrest, which involved a nearly two-day manhunt, was carried out in cooperation with the FBI, the ATF and the US Marshals Service, with no reported injuries to law enforcement personnel.
The victims include State Representative Melissa Hortman, her husband and a senator, John Hoffman and his wife, who were all shot at their respective homes on Saturday. The authorities believe that the same individual is responsible for both sets of attacks and that a political motive is behind the assaults.
