FUEL APOCALYPSE: Get Ready to Pay the Price for the Middle East Crisis

German motorists can expect higher fuel prices in the wake of the escalating military tensions between Israel and Iran, according to the German Automobile Club (ADAC). The current situation has led to a surge in oil prices, said ADAC spokesperson Andreas Hölzel in an interview with the Funke-Mediengruppe newspapers. The consequences of this price increase will not be limited to the oil market, he added.

While fuel prices at the pumps may not have yet reflected the change, Hölzel expects the major oil companies to pass on the higher crude oil prices to consumers, in this case, motorists, in the near future.

In anticipation of a potential price hike, the ADAC advises motorists to fill up as soon as possible, ideally in the evening, as fuel prices tend to be at their most favorable during the day. As a rule, a price increase at the pumps does not take long to materialize after a significant oil price increase, Hölzel warned.
