At least eight victims of floods in America.

At least eight people died after heavy rain caused flooding in the US state of Kentucky.

“This could be the worst flooding in recent history, devastating and deadly,” said Gov. Andy Bechard.

“At the moment I can confirm eight dead, but this number is increasing hour by hour,” he added.

Around Jackson, some roads turned into rivers and some cars were flooded, media reports said. In such circumstances, many residents sought refuge on the roof of their house, waiting for help.

Due to human-induced climate change, the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere increases, which increases the risk of excessive precipitation, scientists estimate.

Rain, along with other factors, especially built-up terrain, contributes to the increasingly frequent occurrence of floods.
