In a coordinated operation, the public prosecutor’s office and the police in Dresden conducted a comprehensive search and seizure operation to combat child pornography on Wednesday. The operation involved the search of 22 residential and commercial premises in Dresden and the districts of Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge and Meißen, as announced by the authorities. This was the 21st such operation in the past few years.
The measures are linked to investigations against 22 suspects, during which the officers secured a wide range of evidence, including 40 mobile phones, 37 computers and 48 digital storage media. Additionally, random finds were made, such as a seemingly stolen traffic sign and small quantities of controlled substances.
Twenty-seven criminal investigators from the Dresden Police Directorate and 78 officers from the Saxon Rapid Police Force were involved in the operation. The investigations in the individual cases are ongoing, particularly due to the time-consuming evaluation of the secured storage technology.
