Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s Minister-President, Manuela Schwesig, has been pressing the coalition committee of the Union and SPD to reduce the value-added tax in the hospitality industry.
According to Schwesig, who spoke to Politico, she is firmly in favor of honoring the promise to lower the gastronomy tax, as it was already pledged during the grand coalition. “If one gives a promise, one should also keep it” she emphasized.
Schwesig believes the reduction is crucial for the significant tourism industry in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the SPD will naturally contribute financially to this decrease, she added.
