The price of wheat decreases reaching pre-war levels.
The price of wheat is reduced to the levels of February, when the Russia-Ukraine war had not started. Prices have decreased after the agreement reached in Turkey to pave the way for safe exports to the world.
A kg or a ton of wheat is sold today on the stock exchange at the price of the month of February. The price has been halved, as a real agreement has been reached in Turkey between Moscow and Kiev to unlock the amount that Ukraine has not been able to move due to the war.
Both countries have agreed to sign the agreement separately in Turkey, in order to open safe routes to Odesa and two other ports controlled by Ukraine.
With this pact, 25 million tons of grain will go to global markets.
The decrease in the price of wheat, which doubled in March, is expected to affect the decrease in the prices of other, more closely related products such as flour and bread, pasta and sweets.
Unblocking the trade route in the war zones is important for the world market, as Russia and Ukraine together produce about a third of the wheat that is exported, about 60 million, out of 200 million tons.
