Berlin, Germany – The new Federal Ministry of Digitalization and Modernization of the State (BMDS) is distancing itself from symbols of a backward state. According to a spokesperson, the ministry does not possess fax machines and has no intention of acquiring any. This response can be seen as a reaction to a statement made by SPD Chief and Vice-Chancellor Lars Klingbeil during the presentation of the coalition agreement, in which he demanded the removal of fax machines in the country.
The residence of Minister Karsten Wildberger, located in the midst of its establishment phase, is actively seeking additional staff members and has received a significant number of applications. “The interest in working for the BMDS is great. We have received over 500 initiative applications in the first few days, including many from other government departments” a ministry spokesperson stated. Notably, the BMDS has yet to receive its own budget, as a federal budget for the current year has not been passed.
