Motive of Hamburg Train Station Attacker Remains a Dark Secret

Investigations into the Motive of the Hamburg Train Station Stabbing Continue

Police are continuing to investigate the motive behind the recent stabbing at Hamburg’s main train station, with no signs of a political motivation so far, a police spokesperson said on Friday evening. While no political motives have been identified, the investigation has yielded some initial findings, which are being examined, particularly in relation to the possibility that the suspected perpetrator may have been in a state of psychological distress at the time of the attack.

The incident, which occurred around 6 pm on a platform between tracks 13 and 14, saw a 39-year-old woman allegedly stab people at random. At least twelve people were injured, with some in a life-threatening condition, according to reports. Some media outlets initially reported 18 people were hurt.

Due to the police response, the Hamburg main train station experienced disruptions, with diversions and delays in long-distance Deutsche Bahn services. Tracks 13 and 14 were closed as a result of the incident.
