In a recent interview with the ARD, CDU Vice-Chair Karin Prien emphasized the need for more women in leadership positions within the party. Noting that only one woman is set to participate in the upcoming coalition committee, Prien criticized the underrepresentation of women in the CDU.
The Education and Family Minister expressed her desire for a more diverse team, stating that women in the party must make their voices heard to secure key positions in the future, including party chair, general secretary and head of the Chancellor’s office. To achieve this, more effort will be required, Prien said.
When asked if she would identify as a “feminist” Prien replied, “I am an experience-feminist, yes.” She also shared her personal story, recounting how her life changed after starting a family as a young lawyer and how the balance between family and career has shaped her views.
