Germany Sees Rise in Road Accident Injuries and Fatalities in March 2025
According to preliminary results from the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), approximately 27,900 people were injured in road traffic accidents in March 2025, a six per cent increase of around 1,600 individuals compared to the same period the previous year. The number of road fatalities rose by 15, to a total of 211. In total, the police registered nearly 206,300 road traffic accidents in March 2025, an eight per cent increase of around 8,000 incidents compared to the same period the previous year.
For the first quarter of 2025, the police recorded around 577,100 road traffic accidents, a one per cent decrease of approximately 4,300 incidents compared to the same period the previous year. In 56,100 of these accidents, people were injured or killed, a one per cent increase. A total of 543 people lost their lives and 70,900 were injured, numbers similar to those of the previous year. The number of accidents resulting in property damage only, decreased by one per cent, to around 521,000 incidents.
