EU's Top Official Unleashes Scathing Attack on Trump, Calls Him a Fascist

European Parliament President Slams US President Trump as Fascist, Unreliable Partner

The President of the European Parliament’s Committee, Anton Hofreiter, has sparked controversy by labeling US President Donald Trump a fascist. In an interview with RTL and ntv, Hofreiter described Trump as “in some ways a fascist and in some ways a naive person who can be easily manipulated by dictators.”

The Green Party politician also accused Trump of being “highly corrupt” citing his recent trip to the Gulf states as an example. Hofreiter expressed his concerns about the reliability of the US as a partner, stating that “he is no longer a reliable partner at all.”

In light of his comments, Hofreiter emphasized the need for Europe to address its military capabilities, particularly in the areas of air transport and satellite reconnaissance. He warned that in the future, Europe will have to rely on itself, citing Russia’s economic power as a comparison, saying “Russia has roughly the economic power of Italy.”

When asked to defend his use of the term “fascist” Hofreiter stood by his statement, arguing that Trump’s regime and many of its actions share characteristics with fascism. He cited concerns from many American observers and scholars of fascism, who fear that the current administration is attempting to dismantle democracy and the rule of law in the United States. Hofreiter urged Europeans to be aware of this threat.
