Putin Pulls the Strings in Ukraine Crisis?

US President Under Pressure to End Ukraine Conflict, Says German Politician

As the future head of the German Bundestag’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Armin Laschet, has expressed concerns about the ongoing Ukraine conflict, stating that US President Donald Trump is under pressure to bring a swift end to the war.

Speaking to German media outlets RTL and ntv, Laschet questioned whether Russian President Vladimir Putin is genuinely seeking a resolution, or simply stalling for time. “It’s a delicate situation with him” he said, adding that Putin’s proposal to discuss a memorandum and formulate conditions before taking any action, “sounds like playing for time and that would be a way to lead President Trump around by the nose.”

Laschet emphasized that the European community is working to keep Trump on board, with leaders from various nations, including Germany and France, engaging in phone calls and meetings to ensure the US president is informed of the European position before any discussions.

The German politician highlighted the importance of unity among European nations, citing the recent improvement in the German-French relationship and the agreement between the UK and the European Commission on a closer cooperation in defense policy. However, he also stressed the need for American involvement to exert real pressure on all parties involved in the conflict.
