René Wilke Takes the Reins

Potsdam, Germany – Brandenburg’s Minister-President, Dietmar Woidke, announced on Monday in Potsdam that René Wilke, the former Mayor of Frankfurt (Oder), will be the new Minister of the Interior in the state of Brandenburg.

Woidke praised Wilke, saying that he had done an outstanding job as Mayor, giving the city of Frankfurt (Oder) a new sense of self-confidence. Wilke, a non-partisan, has a proven track record of tackling problems in collaboration with the local community, motivating people to take an active role in shaping their city’s future.

The new Minister of the Interior brings valuable experience to the role, particularly in the field of internal affairs in Brandenburg. Wilke will succeed Katrin Lange, who resigned on Friday due to the Verfassungsschutz-Affäre.

As the former Mayor of Frankfurt (Oder) since 2018, Wilke’s appointment as the new Minister of the Interior marks a significant change in the state’s leadership, effective immediately.
