Eintracht Braunschweig fires coach days before relegation play-off

In the days leading up to the relegation play-off match to determine their place in the 2nd Bundesliga, Eintracht Braunschweig has made a significant change to their coaching staff. As of Monday, Chief Trainer Daniel Scherning, Co-Coach Andreas Zimmermann and Goalkeeper Coach Milenko Gilic have all been relieved of their duties. The club announced this decision in a statement.

Marc Pfitzner, who was previously the Co-Coach of the professional team, will take over as Chief Coach for the team in their upcoming relegation matches against 1. FC Saarbrücken. He will be assisted by Co-Coach Marcel Goslar, Athlete Trainer Janning Michels and Rehabilitation Coach Alexander Bülow. In addition, Ken Reichel and Jasmin Fejzic will join the coaching staff specifically for the play-off matches. Fejzic will assume Gilic’s role and be responsible for preparing the goalkeepers for both games.

According to Sport Director Benjamin Kessel, “We have full confidence in the coaching team led by Marc to successfully navigate these matches.” He emphasized that the team must present a completely different image and view the relegation play-offs as an opportunity to secure their place in the 2nd Bundesliga. Kessel believes that the team has the necessary talent to compete in the league next season. The focus is primarily on the players to prove themselves capable of maintaining their position in the 2nd Bundesliga.
