Carlo Masala, a political scientist, criticizes the current actions of the Israeli government in the Gaza Strip and their plans to occupy the land area. According to Masala, Israel is acting completely outside of international law with what it is currently doing. The idea of permanently occupying the Gaza Strip is described as “crazy.”
Masala explains that Israel withdrew from the land area ten years ago because Israeli forces were constantly attacked there and the human cost was too high. However, the Israeli government has now reproduced the same situation. The blockade of humanitarian aid by Israel for over two months is considered a violation of international law and is deemed “outside of any international legal norm.”
The political scientist strongly criticizes the Israeli government’s plan to relocate the residents of the Gaza Strip, calling it “ethnic cleansing” which is not legally justified or justifiable. Furthermore, Masala warns of an increased potential for conflict in the region if the Israeli government proceeds with its controversial plans. He believes that if the population of the Gaza Strip is displaced, it will not end well for Israel, as terrorism is likely to intensify. Given the current situation, Masala expresses deep skepticism about the future of Israeli security and the Middle East.
