Steinmeier Urges Netanjahu to Lift Gaza Aid Ban

During his visit to Jerusalem, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to allow humanitarian aid deliveries into the Gaza Strip. According to a statement from Steinmeier’s spokesperson, Cerstin Gammelin, on Tuesday evening, the President also commemorated the 60th anniversary of German-Israeli relations and stressed Germany’s ongoing responsibility for Israel’s security, particularly in light of the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.

During their discussions, Steinmeier and Netanyahu also exchanged views on the tense situation in the region. The President emphasized the urgent need to demonstrate political perspectives for the end of the conflict, especially in dialogue with Arab states.
