Philipp Amthor, the Digital State Secretary of CDU, plans to end the use of fax machines in his Ministry of Digitalization and State Modernization. “We never had any fax machines and we don’t intend to introduce them” Amthor told “Stern.” He emphasized that the ministry is now focused on establishing its political profile, stating, “Now, we are not choosing plants and discussing decor questions, but we are working on setting up this ministry properly.” For the first time, essential responsibilities and competencies for digitalization will be consolidated in this ministry, according to the 32-year-old. “This has not yet been done in any other federal state. It is a real breakthrough in the history of the Federal Republic, having the first functional and fully equipped digital ministry.” Amthor also mentioned that the transition of many employees from other ministries needs to be organized and they will immediately begin their work. This includes correcting “major bureaucratic sins” and addressing them accordingly.
