The Dax has continued to rise into the green area on Monday. By around 12:30, the leading index was calculated at around 23,195 points, 0.5 percent above the closing level from Friday.
“Apparently, the Dax is starting the week in a good mood and is once again setting new record highs” said market analyst Andreas Lipkow. “This is noteworthy in the current news environment, as the US tariff issue remains a concern in the markets. The economic outlook is also not particularly promising.”
“Market participants seem to be increasingly counting on central banks to maintain their accommodative monetary policies and support financial and capital markets. Banks and insurance companies are in demand in this market environment. Even among utility stocks, some investors seem to be increasing their holdings” said Lipkow.
The European common currency was stronger on Monday afternoon: One euro cost 1.1340 US dollars and one dollar was therefore worth 0.8818 euros.
