66% of Germans Believe Managers Can Become Successful Ministers

According to a survey, Germans have a lot of trust in political outsiders from the business world. 66 percent believe that a manager from the free market can succeed in the Berlin political arena and become a successful minister, according to a Forsa survey for the “Stern” magazine. 28 percent see it differently. Six percent do not express an opinion.

It is believed that a manager can succeed in politics, especially by supporters of the CDU/CSU (83 percent), but also by voters of the SPD (73 percent) and the Greens (67 percent). Only supporters of the Left Party are mostly skeptical, as 53 percent doubt that business outsiders can function.

Friedrich Merz recently unexpectedly appointed Karsten Wildberger, the former head of MediaMarkt and Saturn, as Digital Minister.

The survey was conducted by the market and opinion research institute Forsa for the “Stern” and RTL Germany on April 30 and May 2 among 1,000 people.
