Tragic Crash Leaves Four Injured, Driver Under Influence of Alcohol

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a serious traffic accident occurred in Obertshausen, in the Rhine-Main region, resulting in the deaths of two young men. As reported by the Police Presidium of Southeast Hesse, the incident took place at approximately 2:30 AM on Bürgermeister-Mahr Street.

A Ford Fiesta, carrying four individuals, was traveling northbound when, shortly after passing the intersection with Seligenstädter Street, it veered off the road for an as yet unknown reason and crashed into a tree with great force. The two men, aged 20 and 22, who were seated in the back of the vehicle, succumbed to their severe injuries despite immediate resuscitation efforts at the scene. One of the men was trapped in the vehicle and had to be rescued by the fire department.

The suspected 22-year-old driver and a 19-year-old passenger were lightly injured and transported to a hospital. According to initial information, the driver was under the influence of alcohol; an alcohol breath test revealed a value over 0.8%. At the request of the authorities, a blood sample was taken. A forensic expert has been assigned to reconstruct the accident sequence.
