Trump's Security Advisor Waltz and Deputy Wong Reportedly Leaving Government Amid Controversial Chat Group Allegations

US-National Security Advisor Mike Waltz reportedly leaving administration, according to multiple US media outlets citing officials. Deputy National Security Advisor Alex Wong is also reportedly leaving the administration. Steve Witkoff, who was involved in negotiations between Israel and Hamas as well as talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, is reportedly being considered as Waltz’s successor. The possible dismissal of Waltz follows a report by a journalist from The Atlantic who was inadvertently added to a chat group where plans for a military operation against the Houthi militia in Yemen were reportedly shared. Waltz confirmed the existence of the group but denied sharing classified information and adding the journalist to the group. A legal case is currently underway against the officials involved in the chat group for potential violations of the Federal Records Act and the Administrative Procedure Act.
