Björn Böhning, a member of the SPD, is reportedly set to become a civil servant state secretary in the Bundesfinanzministerium led by SPD Chief Lars Klingbeil. According to the “Tagesspiegel” (Friday edition), citing SPD circles, Böhning is expected to be responsible for coordinating the government in the Finance Ministry, effectively leading the future “Deputy Chancellor’s Office.” It is reported that Böhning has already negotiated the organizational regulations for the future government on behalf of Klingbeil.
Böhning is considered a close ally of Klingbeil. He previously served as Juso (the youth wing of the SPD) leader and state secretary in the Federal Ministry of Labor. Since 2022, he has been the managing director of the Association of Producers of Film, Television and other audiovisual works in Germany.
