Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and former Federal Presidents Joachim Gauck and Christian Wulff will not participate in the Great Bugle Call for outgoing Chancellor Olaf Scholz on May 5th.

A spokesperson for Merkel told the “Tagesspiegel” in response to a query that “Former Chancellor Dr. Merkel will not participate in the bugle call in honor of Chancellor Scholz.” Merkel served as Chancellor from 2005 to 2021 and was the predecessor of Scholz in office.

Gauck and Wulff will also not participate in the Great Bugle Call, the offices of the former Federal Presidents confirmed to the “Tagesspiegel” in response to a query.
