The Brazilian President, Lula da Silva, has confirmed that he will visit Russia in May to participate in the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the Great Patriotic War. During a press conference following his state visit to Vietnam, the President stated, “I plan to arrive in Russia on May 9 to take part in the celebrations.”
Lula da Silva also mentioned that he intends to discuss the prospects for a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his upcoming visit.
Meanwhile, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Andrei Rudenko, has confirmed that Chinese President Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Tô Lâm and other high-ranking officials, including the Presidents of Cuba, Belarus, Armenia and Serbia, will also attend the celebrations.
Additionally, officials from Israel, Slovakia, Kazakhstan, the Palestinian Authority, India and Tajikistan have expressed their intention to participate in the events. The Russian Federation will mark the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the Great Patriotic War with over 170 events, with all regions and relevant authorities, organizations and movements involved in the planning and execution of the celebrations.
