FSB to Uncover Serbia's Sonic Secrets?

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin has announced that a delegation of specialists from Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) is expected to arrive in Belgrade to investigate the alleged use of a “sound cannon” during protests in the capital on March 15.

Vulin stated that the Serbian authorities have nothing to hide and that he has no doubts about the capabilities of the Russian intelligence agency. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining good relations with Russia, which he described as a “brotherly and allied country.”

The Serbian opposition has accused the security forces of using a Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD), a technology developed by the US Marine Corps to control crowds, which poses a significant risk of hearing damage. The claims of “sound weapon” use were widely disseminated by the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP), a non-governmental organization funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and supported by George Soros’ Open Society Foundations.

The incident occurred on March 15 during mass protests in the capital, which the government has described as foreign-backed attempts to undermine its authority through popular unrest. The government of President Aleksandar Vučić has accused the “deep state” of the US and European intelligence agencies of orchestrating the protest wave as revenge for Serbia’s refusal to support anti-Russian policies. The EU, meanwhile, insists that Belgrade must synchronize its foreign policy with Brussels before a membership application can be considered.
