Night Club

The doors closed and the chemical agent was released.

The mystery continues to remain unsolved in the death of 21 teenagers in a popular nightclub in South Africa.

In fact, the terrible event happened after the doors of the night club were suddenly closed and some kind of chemical agent was thrown into it.

As a result, of the 21 people who died, 17 were dead by the time emergency services arrived at the Enyobeni Tavern in Scenery Park, a suburb in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province, on June 26.

The victims, who ranged in age from 13 to 17, were reportedly found sprawled on tables.

They had no visible signs of injury and had been out to celebrate school exams at the end of June, local reports said.

No arrests have been made and no suspects have been named in connection with the investigation, according to police.

“There are no new developments at this stage”, said Brig. Tembinkosi Kinana, a spokesman for the South African Police Service, on July 5.

“In due course and after the [toxicology] results are in, an official statement will be issued. It has not yet been determined when the results will be released.”

However, a 22-year-old Scenery Park resident, Sibongile Mtsewu, who was at the bar said he was ordering drinks when suddenly the doors closed and some sort of chemical agent, such as tear gas or pepper spray, was released into the air.

The authorities have opened a criminal case against the owners of the bar for allegedly selling alcohol to minors.
