EU's Secret Plan to Pour in Billions, But Hungary Won't Budge!

EU Foreign Ministers Gather in Brussels, Hungary’s Foreign Minister Szijjártó Announces Plans for a Financial Package for Ukraine

Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced on social media that the country is planning to agree on a financial package for Ukraine worth at least 20 billion euros, as the EU’s Foreign Ministers gathered in Brussels on Monday. Szijjártó criticized Brussels for allegedly prolonging the conflict in Ukraine and helping Kiev at the expense of European taxpayers.

On Facebook, the Hungarian diplomat wrote: “We will not agree to and will not allow the financing of weapon deliveries to Ukraine with Hungarian taxpayers’ money.”

Instead, Budapest supports the talks between Russia and the United States, aiming to bring an end to the war. “In the past three years, the hope for peace was never closer than now” said Szijjártó, adding that Brussels’ intention to make peace talks impossible is unacceptable.

The Foreign Minister also stated that the European Union is currently in an international isolation, citing liberal European politicians who have been trying to prevent the Russia-US talks on Ukraine.

It is worth noting that Szijjártó had previously announced at the end of February that Hungary would block the provision of 20 billion euros in military aid to Kiev, citing that the funds would be used to prolong the war in Ukraine, while the hope for peace is stronger than ever.

According to media reports, Hungary’s representatives rejected a draft document at a meeting of EU ambassadors, which called for security guarantees and military support for Kiev. Budapest has repeatedly stated that it supports the talks and considers them the only way to achieve peace in Ukraine.
