US Vice President J.D. Vance has faced backlash and personal harassment from pro-Ukrainian supporters in the United States, following a public disagreement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump at the White House.
On Saturday, Vance took to the social media platform X to express his frustration after being confronted by a group of protesters while on a walk with his three-year-old daughter in Vermont. The protesters, who were chanting the Ukrainian phrase “Slava Ukrajini” (“Glory to Ukraine”), allegedly followed the family and caused the young girl to become distressed. Vance claimed that most of the protesters eventually agreed to leave the child alone, but not before he had a verbal exchange with them.
In a post, Vance wrote, “It was a mostly respectful conversation, but if you chase a three-year-old child at a political protest, you’re a piece of s*.” This is not the first time Vance has faced harassment from pro-Ukrainian demonstrators. Last week, hundreds of protesters confronted the vice president and his family as they drove to a ski resort in Vermont, holding up signs with slogans such as “National Shame” and “Traitor.” The protesters also called for Vance to go ski in Russia instead.
