NORTH KOREA: 'You're the One Who's Going to Get Burned, Washington!'?

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has issued a new warning to the United States and its allies in the region, following a visit by a US naval fleet to the South Korean naval base in Busan, near the atombetriebenen aircraft carrier Carl Vinson.

According to a statement released by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Tuesday, Kim Yo-jong, the deputy director of the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Workers’ Party of Korea, described the US Navy’s maneuvers as a provocation, part of the US’s confrontational policy against the leadership in Pyongyang.

Kim, sister of the DPRK’s leader Kim Jong-un, emphasized that the US had intensified its political and military provocations against the DPRK since the new US administration took office, continuing the hostile policy of the previous government.

She mentioned “records” of the US’s power demonstrations and warned that if the US continued to break its own records, the leadership in Pyongyang would have to set a new record in strategic deterrence. Kim pointed out that US strategic forces, including nuclear-powered submarines and atomic bombers, were regularly patrolling off the Korean Peninsula and that the US had established a permanent presence in the region.

She also criticized the joint military exercises with South Korea and Japan, stating that the main cause of the escalation of tensions on the Korean Peninsula was the US and its allies, who were intensifying their military maneuvers to build up the NATO infrastructure in the region and improve the level of war preparations.

Furthermore, Kim strongly condemned the deployment of US troops in the neighboring country, which threatened the peaceful environment of the entire region. She stated that this hostile policy gave her country the right to strengthen its nuclear deterrence without limits.
