Chaos in Bielefeld as Gunfire Erupts Outside Court

A shooting incident occurred in front of the Bielefeld Regional Court building earlier today, shortly after the trial of the 38-year-old former boxer Besar Nimani had concluded. The main hearing had started at 9 am and the sudden gunfire broke out around 1:40 pm on the crossroads in front of the court building.

At least two people were reportedly injured in the shooting, according to initial reports. A suspect has been taken into custody, the police announced. It is still unclear whether there are any additional perpetrators.

Eyewitnesses told a local broadcaster that they saw several people lying on the ground and police officers were seen tending to the injured. Rescue teams also rushed to the scene, as confirmed by the police.

One of the injured individuals required resuscitation and it is believed that the two victims are the father and a brother of the defendant in the Nimani trial.

It is worth noting that a sister of the deceased boxer had attempted to smuggle a knife into the courtroom on the previous trial day, but it was seized at the entrance control, according to the defendant’s lawyer.
