Two High-Ranking Officials Announce Resignations in Switzerland
Two senior officials in the Swiss military and intelligence community have announced their departures, according to a report by the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. Thomas Süssli, the Chief of the Swiss Armed Forces and Christian Dussey, the head of the Federal Intelligence Service, will be leaving their posts.
Süssli, the Armeechef, submitted his resignation at the end of January and is expected to remain in the position until the end of 2025. Dussey, the Chief of the Federal Intelligence Service, had already resigned a few days prior and will continue to work until the end of March 2026.
The information was confirmed by multiple independent sources and the resignations have raised questions and created a new starting point for the election of the next head of the Swiss Military, who will be chosen by the parliament after the departure of Viola Amherd, the current head, on March 12.
